Additional information

Considering that strontium difluoride has a boiling point of 2460 °C, this substance is assumed to be “inert” in the context of explosivity as the ionic and anionic compounds of strontium difluoride are present in stable oxidation states. Furthermore, this substance does not contain any chemical structures commonly associated with explosive properties, such as metal peroxides, peroxo-acid-anions, azides, and halogen oxides (cf. section 7.11 Column 2 Annex VII of Regulation 1907/2006). Furthermore, long-term industrial experience in practical handling of the substance shows that it is not explosive.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Strontium difluoride does not need to be classified according to CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 since explosive properties are considered non-relevant based on the lack of functional group.
