Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

There is no data available for the surface tension of this substance . There is however information on read across substances that allow extrapolation to predict the surface tension behaviour of this substance. In a guideline study, the a substance consisting of predominantly tri and tetraethylene glycol monobutyl ether was not found to be surface active. A solution of 1g/l in water produced a surface tension of 61.4mN/m at 20C. A study to assess the surface active properties of the substance 2-(2-(2 -methoxyyethoxy)ethoxy)ethanol found that the concentration response curve was not far from ideal (ie the curve was almost linear) indicating that it has very little surface activity. It would be expected from the structure of the ethyl glycol ether series compared to the butyl series that the later would be more likely to have surface active properties. It is therefore conservative to use the measured data from this similar UVCB substance to read across and to derive the key parameter for this end point.
