Test guideline
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 221 (Lemna sp. Growth Inhibition Test)
Version / remarks:
23 Mar 2006
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
see "Principles of method if other than guideline"
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Due to a technical failure of a component of the automatically climate acquisition system, no temperature data were recorded in the climate chambers from 2015-06-19 (ca. 10 a.m.) to 2015-06-23 (ca 5 p.m.). The study was placed in the climate chamber from 2015-06-19 to 2015-06-26. Since the technical failure was not known at that time, no temperature data for the respective time period were recorded. The recorded temperature data after re-activation of the automatically climate acquisition system at 2015-06-19 (ca 5 a.m.) were well in-line of the recommended range. Additionally, the historical temperature data for the climate chambers showed a stable running system and, the control performance of the respective test is well in-line with the performance recommended in the guidelines. Therefore it is highly probable that the temperature given in the climate chambers were within the recommended temperature range and it can be concluded that this deviation did not invalid the whole test.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
No sublethal effects on Lemna gibba were observed. Only minor effects on frond number occurred (inhibition < 10%) within the test duration. The resulting ErC50 values for frond number and frond area are higher than the highest test concentration of 100 mg p.m./L. The lowest NOErC value is 31.3 mg p.m./L for total frond number and with a corresponding LOErC of 100 p.m./L.
