Description of key information

TCCA is considered to be unstable in the environment, because the free available chlorine is rapidly reduced. CYA, or its salt, is the stable degradation product. Therefore CYA, or it sodium salt, is the substance of interest for the environmental fate studies.

The soil / water coefficient, K, is <1 for all soils, therefore, cyanuric acid is weakly adsorbed and highly mobile in all soils. Cyanuric acid also has a Log Kow = -1.31 and therefore, has a low potential for adsorption.
