Additional information

Short description of key information:
The Ames test achieved by Percy A. (well documented, GLP compliant, 2 experimental studies carried on) is considered as the key study for the determination of the genetic toxicity of 1-bromo-3-chloropropane. In addition, microscopical observations made on bone marrow cells of rats tends to prove this mutagenic potential of 1-bromo-3-chloropropane.

Endpoint Conclusion: Adverse effect observed (positive)

Justification for classification or non-classification

Under the conditions of the Ames test (Percy A.), and in the absence of a positive mammal in-vivo test, 1-bromo-3-chloropropane has to be considered as mutagenic cat.2 and does require labelling with the hazard statement H341 "Suspected of causing genetic defects" in accordance with the CLP regulation.
