Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Aquatic ecotoxicity studies covering three trophic levels (algae, invertebrates and fish) were conducted in accordance with OECD test guidelines and in compliance with GLP. The results of the studies are summarised below, due to the poor solubility of the registered substance a water accommodated fraction (WAF) method of preparation was used to prepare the test solutions in all tests.

Exposure of the freshwater fish rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) to the test item has been investigated and gave the following results:

Time Point (h) LL50 (mg/L Loading Rate WAF)   95% Confidence Limits (mg/L Loading Rate WAF) No Observed Effect Loading Rate (NOEL) (mg/L)  Lowest Observed Effect Loading Rate (LOEL) (mg/L)
 96 1.8   Not determined  1.0  1.8

Exposure of the freshwater invertebrate Daphnia magna to the test item has been investigated and gave the following results:

Time Point (h) EL50 (mg/L Loading rate WAF)  95% Confidence Limits (mg/L Loading Rate WAF) No Observed Effect Loading Rate (NOEL) (mg/L)  Lowest Observed Effect Loading Rate (LOEL) (mg/L)
 48 1.3  1.0 - 1.8  1.0  1.8

Exposure of Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata to the test item gave the following results

Analysis of the test preparations at 0 hours showed measured test concentrations to range from less than the limit of quantification (LOQ) of the analytical method employed, determined to be 0.034 mg/L, to 0.19 mg/L. A decline in measured test concentrations to less than the LOQ in all test preparations was observed at 72 hours.

The results of testing indicated that algae were the most sensitive species and the 72 -hour NOEL, EL10, EL20 and EL50 values of 0.01, 0.068, 0.11 and 0.25 mg/L loading rate respectively were determined. It is therefore considered appropriate to use the EL10 and EL50 values for PNEC derivation and risk characterisation purposes.

A study was conducted following OECD guideline 209 the validity criteria applied to this study type were met and therefore the activated sludge respiration test is considered valid. The enpoints were:

NOEC Total respiration < 9.5 mg/L

LOEC Total respiration 30.5 mg/L

EC50 Total respiration 157.6 mg/L
