Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2007-03-19 to 2007-06-20
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Version / remarks:
adopted December 29, 1992
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
other: substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 50 mm of the powder train within the 1 minute test period

The flame of a gas burner did not ignite the test substance pile. In contact with the flame, the test substance became less viscous. After removal of the ignition source, no propagation of combustion (e.g. by smouldering) was observed. The colour of the test substance did not change.

Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
In th preliminary test, Amphopropionate C8 did not ignite and propagate combustion and thus, is not considered highly flammable.
Executive summary:

The flammability of Amphopropionate C8 was determined according to EU method A.10 (1992). The test substance did not ignite and propagate combustion over 50 mm in 1 minute (i.e. 200 mm within 4 minutes) in the preliminary test, thus, no main study was required.

Amphopropionate C8 is not considered highly flammable.

Description of key information

not highly flammable (EU method A.10)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified
