explosive properties of explosives
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties

Description of key information

Zinc dioctanoate has no explosive properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

non explosive

Additional information

According to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex VII, Section 7.11 Column 2 and ECHA Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, Chapter R.7a: Endpoint specific guidance, section R.7.1.11, December 2016, the study does not need to be conducted, since zinc dioctanoate does not contain functional groups that are directly associated with explosive properties. Finally, it is noted that despite the long-term use of zinc dioctanoate, it is not classified for explosive properties according to UN transport regulations and derogation from testing is hereby applied for.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Zinc dioctanoate does not need to be classified according to CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 since explosive properties are considered non-relevant based on the lack of functional group.
