Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
1 150 mg/L

Additional information

No studies were conducted on the target substance, Titanium tetrapropanolate. As the target substance hydrolyses rapidly (half-life < 5 minutes) the intrinsic properties are related to hydrolysis products of the target substance.

On the basis that if entering the environmental, this substance will quickly dissociate to form the inorganic (poorly soluble) titanium dioxide and well-evaluated organic substances – 1-propanol.

The titanium dioxide is not considered further in this report as aquatic toxicity assessments do not apply.

Toxicity of 1-propanol to algae were tested on several species:Selenastrum capricornutum, Scenedesmus pannonicus, andChlorella pyrenoidosa. NOEC (48-96h) based growth rate values were 2000, 2900 and 1150 mg/l respectively. (Slooff et al. 1983). The lowest value of 1150 mg/l tested onChlorella pyrenoidosawere chosen for CSA.
