the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties

Description of key information

Barium dibenzoate has no explosive properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

According to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex VII, Section 7.11, Column 2, the study does not need to be conducted since there are no chemical groups associated with explosive properties present in the molecule of barium dibenzoate. Despite the long-term use of barium dibenzoate, it is not classified for explosive properties according to UN transport regulations and derogation from testing is hereby applied for.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Barium dibenzoate does not need to be classified according to CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 since explosive properties are considered non-relevant based on the lack of functional group.
