Key result
Flash point:
52 °C
Atm. press.:
102.3 kPa
Interpretation of results:
Category 3 (flammable liquids) based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
(i) The flash point of the test substance = 52 ± 3°C.
(ii) The test substance is classified as a Flammable Liquid, Category 3.
Executive summary:

The test was carried out in accordance with ASTM D93 for Pensky-Martens closed-cup testing.

Approximately 70mls of the test substance is placed in a test cup closed by a lid and heated at a specified rate with stirring. At 1°C increments a small test flame is automatically introduced into the vapour space above the liquid through a temporary opening in the lid. A flash is observed when the vapour concentration above the liquid has reached a level sufficient to be ignited by the test flame. The flash is detected by a thermocouple suspended in the vapour space.

(i) The flash point of the test substance = 52 ± 3°C.

(ii) The test substance is classified as a Flammable Liquid.
