Description of key information

The flash point is not considered to be relevant for substance zinc dipropionate.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The study does not need to be conducted because the flash point is only relevant to liquids and low melting point solids.

The substanc is a solid, but not a low melting one. As the substance decomposes at > 240 °C before melting, no melting point could be determined.

In addition, this study does not need to be conducted if the substance is inorganic (cf. Annex VII, section 7.9, column 2 of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006). The substance is a salt of a carboxylic acid with an inorganic cation. Zinc dipropionate is an inorganic substance in accordance with the definitions of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) because of its ionic structure. Thus waiving in accordance with Annex VII, section 7.9, column 2 of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 is also justified.
