Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
16 June 2008 to 16 December 2008
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period
Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
C8-10DAQ was tested for flammability in accordance with A.10 via a GLP certified Laboratory. During the preliminary screening test, The test substance began to melt immediately after it was tried to ignite the pile with a hot flame from a gas burner and burned locally with a yellow flame that extinguished after approx. 5 seconds. There was no propagation along the strip and is therefore not classified based on GHS criteria.
Executive summary:

The test was performed as described in EU method A10.

A gas-burner was used for ignition. The sample of the test substance was carried over onto a certain plate as described in the method. The substance cord was tried to ignite at one end using the burner.

The test substance began to melt immediately after it was tried to ignite the pile with a hot flame from a gas burner and burned locally with a yellow flame that extinguished after approx. 5 seconds. There was no propagation along the strip.

Therefore the test substance is classified to be not inflammable according to EEC-Guideline A.10.

Description of key information

The solid substance does not pass the preliminary screening test.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified
