Palmer (2008) is a GLP-compliant, 48 hour study on aquatic invertebrates following OECD guideline 202. The cladoceran, Daphnia magna, was exposed for 48 hours in a closed bottle, static-renewal system to five mean measured concentrations of propane-1-thiol, ranging from 55 to 334 µg/L. The 48-hour EC50 value was 70 µg/L, with a 95% confidence interval of 55 to 88 µg/L. The no-mortality/immobility concentration and the NOEC were both 55 µg/L. The study is considered reliable and suitable for use for this endpoint.

This is supported by Thiebaud (1997) is a 48 hour, static test with analytical monitoring, which follows OECD guideline 202. This is a guideline, GLP study, and is considered to be reliable and a suitable for this endpoint. The 48 h EC50 was found to be less than the lowest concentration measured in this experiment (0.22 mg/L).
