Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
oxidising liquids
Study period:
22 May 2017 - 19 October 2017
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with oxidising properties and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.21 (Oxidising Properties (Liquids))
Version / remarks:
May 31, 2008
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
UN Manual of Tests and Criteria: Test O.2 (Test for oxidizing liquids)
Version / remarks:
2015
GLP compliance:
yes
Sample tested:
other: See remark
Remarks:
Structural features of the test substance
Parameter:
other: Evaluation of structural features
Result:
0 other: The test substance has no oxidizing properties
Remarks on result:
other: See remark
Remarks:
None of the components of the test item does contain groups that act as an oxidizing agent. The oxygen atoms that are present in the molecular structure of the test item are chemically bonded to carbon or hydrogen.

Expert Statement

A test item is considered an oxidizing substance when a mixture of the substance and cellulose in a 1:1 ratio (by mass) spontaneously ignites or the mean pressure rise time of the mixture is less than or equal to mean pressure rise time of a 1:1 reference mixture (by mass) of 65% aqueous nitric acid and cellulose.

The composition of the test item is shown in section 1.2 under legal entity composition. None of the components of the test item does contain groups that act as an oxidizing agent. The oxygen atoms that are present in the molecular structure of the test item are chemically bonded to carbon or hydrogen.

In conclusion, the test item has no oxidizing properties.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The test item has no oxidizing properties.
Executive summary:

The composition of the test item is shown in section 1.2 under legal entity composition. None of the components of the test item does contain groups that act as an oxidizing agent. The oxygen atoms that are present in the molecular structure of the test item are chemically bonded to carbon or hydrogen.  The  statement was prepared according to the EC A.21  and UN O.2 guidelines and according to the principles of GLP.

In conclusion, the test item has no oxidizing properties.

Description of key information

In accordance with Section 1 of REACH Annex XI, testing was omitted based on the evaluation of structural features. An expert statement rather than a full study was considered sufficient to cover this endpoint.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
