Description of key information

For the following ecotoxicological studies the test item used corresponds to 50.6% of diisopropyl peroxydicarbonate in 49.4% of ethyl acetate. Its active ingredient, diisopropyl peroxydicarbonate, hydrolyses rapidly into n-isopropanol. Test samples were therefore monitored for n-isopropanol and the results have been converted from isopropanol to the active ingredient of the test item

Acute toxicity has been investigated through the OECD Guideline 203 and GLP requirements using rainbow trouts (Oncorhynchus mykiss) . All the validity criteria were fulfilled.

Exposure (using Limit test) of rainbow trout to the test item gave LC50 values based on the geometric mean measured test concentration of greater than 0.72 mg/L.

The NOEC was 0.72 mg/L.

These results confirm that rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) were not the most sensitive species.
