Reference
Endpoint:
biodegradation in water: simulation testing on ultimate degradation in surface water
Type of information:
experimental study planned
Justification for type of information:
From the existing information, the substance cannot be regarded as ultimately biodegradable. Further information is needed for the PBT/vPvB assessment. An Aerobic Mineralization in Surface Water- Simulation Biodegradation test (OECD 309)  is proposed for the substance, as water compartment is considered the worst case due to it's expected to have the lowest NER.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 309 (Aerobic Mineralisation in Surface Water - Simulation Biodegradation Test)
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)

Description of key information

The percentage DOC reduction measured after 28 days (at day 29) in both test mediums TI and TII was 11% after correction for the DOC contribution from the inoculum.  1,3-propanediol, 2,2- bis(hydroxymethyl) -, allyl ether therefore cannot be regarded as ultimately biodegradable. Further information is needed for the PBT/vPvB assessment. An Aerobic Mineralization in Surface Water- Simulation Biodegradation test (OECD 309)  is proposed for the substance.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
