Principles of method if other than guideline:
The surfaee tension of a solution of surfaetant generally deereases with inereasing eoneentration until the CMC is aehieved. At higher eoneentration, the surfaee tension remains essentially unehanged. In agraph of the surfaee tension as afunetion of eoneentration, points form normally two straight lines with different slopes. The CMC is given by the interseetion of the two straight lines.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
CMC (water solubility) at 20°C in water: 0.025 ± 0.002 g/L
Executive summary:

The water solubility of Octadecanoic acid, reaction products with diethylenetriamine, di-Me sulfate-quaternized was determined using the critical micelle concentration accordign to ISO 304 -1985 (plate method). According to the Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, chapter R.7a, since the substance was established to be a surfactant, it is prudent to take the critical micelle concentration (CMC) as a solubility limit.

The CMC (water solubility) at 20°C was determind to be 0.025 ±0.002 g/L, pH at 20°C: 6.0.
