Description of key information

2-ethylhexanoic acid, compound with 2-aminoethanol (1:1) is deemed to have a low potential for adsorption as the Log Kow value are below the adsorption threshold of 3. Therefore, additional adsorption-desorption data is not required under REACH Annex VIII. Any sorption of the registered substance to soil or sediment is expected to be negligible.

The ready biodegradation potential of the test substance was determined in GLP-certified test undertaken in accordance with OECD Guideline 306 (Biodegradability in Seawater). The aim of the OECD 306 test is to establish the biodegradability of an organic material in a marine environment. The test showed that the 2 -butylbutanoic acid compound with 2 -aminoethanol in seawater degraded by100% at day 28. It can be concluded that the substance is readily biodegradable.

Since the substance is deemed to be readily biodegradable hydrolysis can be waived in accordance with REACH Annex VIII, column 2.
