Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Test solutions

Details on test solutions:
Following a preliminary range-finding test, Desmodesmus subspicatus was
exposed to Water Accommodated Fractions (WAFS) of the test material over a range of
nominal loading rates of 10, 20, 40, 80 and 160 mg/l (three replicate flasks per
concentration) for 72 hours, under constant illumination and shaking at a temperature of 24
± 1°C.

Results and discussion

Effect concentrations
Duration:
72 h
Dose descriptor:
EL50
Effect conc.:
> 160 mg/L
Nominal / measured:
nominal
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Basis for effect:
growth rate
Details on results:
TOC analysis of the test preparations was performed at 0 and 72 hours. Analysis of the
O-Hour test samples showed measured test concentrations to range from 3.69 to
21.88 mg CII whilst concentrations in the range of less than the control to 4.35 mg CII
were obtained at 72 hours.
As the test material is a complex mixture, the toxicity cannot be attributed to anyone or
more of the components of the test material but to the test material as a whole.
Therefore the results were based on nominal loading rates only.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
The effect of the test material on the growth of Desmodesmus subspicatus has been
investigated and gave EL*so values of greater than 160 mg/l loading rate WAF.
Correspondingly the No Observed Effect Loading Rate was 160 mg/lloading rate WAF.
