Any other information on results incl. tables
The measured flash point value for the reference substance glycerol, 193.5°C is within the control cards limits and complies with the validation criteria of 195.0+/-4.0°C.
The flash point of the reference substances CRM, 74.5 °C respects also the checking cards limits and complies with the validation criteria of 73.9 +/- 2 °C
The flash point of the test item was estimated at 131.5°C during the pre-test.
The flash point of the test item was estimated at 131°C during the first determination. An automatic correction was applied to the obtained result because the ambient pressure was not 101.3 kPa but 96.0 kPa. With this correction, the flash point value is 132.5°C at 101.3 kPa.
The flash point was detected at 131°C during the second determination and the same automatic correction was applied because the ambient pressure was 96.1 kPa. With this correction, the flash point value is 132.5°C at 101.3 kPa.
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Interpretation of results:
- GHS criteria not met
- Conclusions:
- The corrected flash point of the test item was determined to be 132°C at 101.3 kPa (lowest value of two independent determinations).
- Executive summary:
A study was performed to determine the flash point of the test item Tri-n-hexylamine. The method followed was designed to be compliant with the Method A.9 of Commission Regulation No. 440/2008, “Flash Point” and followed GLP. The flash point of the test item is determined with a closed cup tester, by an equilibrium method called “Small Scale” (commonly known as Setaflash). The substance is placed into a test cup and heated using a temperature gradient program. Ignition trials are carried out in order to ascertain whether or not the sample flashes at the temperature tested. A pre-test followed by two determinations were conducted. For the pre-test, a flash point of 131.5°C was observed. This data was used to select the range of temperatures for the following determinations.
Determinations 1 and 2 both gave a corrected flash point of 132.5°C at 101.3 kPa.
Moreover the flash point of the reference substances glycerol and CRM respects the checking cards limits.
The corrected flash point of the test item was determined to be 132°C at 101.3 kPa (lowest value of two independent determinations).
