Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
Groups of ten Golden orfe (Leuciscus idus L., Golden variety) were exposed under static conditions to DMCHA, for a period of 96 -hours.  The 96 -hour LC50 was observed to be > 21.5 mg/L and < 46.4 mg/L, the corresponding no-observed effect concentration (NOEC) was 21.5 mg/L.  If the results are based on the pH adjusted medium the 96 hour LC would be >100 mg/L and the corresponding NOEC would be 100 mg/L.
Executive summary:

Groups of ten Golden orfe (Leuciscus idus L., Golden variety) were exposed under static conditions to cyclohexyldimethylamine (DMCHA), for a period of 96 -hours according to the German Standard Test Guideline, DIN 38 412 L15, 1982 which is comparable to OECD 203. Nominal exposure concentrations were control, 0.0, 21.5, 46.4, 100 mg/L, additionally: 100 mg/L pH adjusted. No analytical verification was performed therefore the results of the study were based on nominal exposure concentrations. After 96 hours 100% mortality was observed in the 46.4 and 100 (no pH adjustment) mg/L treatments, there was no mortality in any of the other treatments or control.

The toxic effect seen in the 46.4 and 100 mg/L (no pH adjustment) was due to the high pH levels in the test media. There was no mortality in the 100 mg/L test medium when the pH was adjusted to 7.8 prior to the addition of fish.

The 96 -hour LC50 was 31.6 mg/L (geometric mean), the corresponding no-observed effect concentration (NOEC) was 21.5 mg/L.

If the results are based on the pH adjusted medium the 96 hour LC would be >100 mg/L and the corresponding NOEC would be 100 mg/L.
