PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

The test substance is not T:

In short-term studies and in a long-term study (partly available through read-across to Linseed oil, polymerized), no effects were observed on aquatic organisms at levels of 100 mg/L, and the test substance is not classified for any human health hazard.

The test substance is 'predominantly not B':

Although log Kow is very high, the major fraction (75%) of this UVCB substance has a high molecular weight (>1100 g/mol) indicating it is not B and not vB. The fraction with a molecular weight >700 g/mol is 98%. This part of the substance can therefore be considered not vB. 2% of the substance may be vB.

The test substance is not P:

Based on read-across to Linseed oil, polymerized, the half-life time of the test substance in the enhanced closed bottle test, which has conditions comparable to fresh surface water, is below 60 days.

Biotransformation products are P or vP:

Based on read-across to Linseed oil, polymerized , persistent biotransformation products are expected to be formed that are water soluble, so they have a low log Kow. The 48h-EC50 for Daphnia magna of the combined biotransformation products was > 1 mg/l. This is far above the screening level for T.

As the biotransformation products are water soluble and not T, they are not PBT or vPvB.

Conclusion:

As the test substance is not T and not P, it is not a PBT or vPvB substance.

The biotransformation products are P or vP, but not T or B, so they are not PBT or vPvB.
