Description of key information

Magnesium neodecanoate does not contain functional groups that are directly associated with explosive properties. It is therefore considered to be void of any explosive properties.

According to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex VII, Section 7.11 Column 2 and ECHA Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, Chapter R.7a: Endpoint specific guidance, section R.7.1.11, December 2016, the study does not need to be conducted, since magnesium neodecanoate does not contain functional groups that are directly associated with explosive properties.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Magnesium neodecanoate is considered to be void of any explosive properties.

According to the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) of the United Nations, magnesium neodecanoate does not have to be classified as explosive. According to the criteria of regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, magnesium neodecanoate does not have to be classified and has no obligatory labelling requirement for explosivity.
