Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the flash point is only relevant to liquids and low melting point solids
Justification for type of information:
The OPPTS 830.6315 1996 and the EU A.9 guidelines are describing the method for the determination of the flash point. The principle of the method is as follows: The substance is placed in a test vessel and heated or cooled to the test temperature according to the procedure described in the individual test method. Ignition trials are carried out in order to ascertain whether or not the sample flashed at the test temperature. According to the guidelines "The test procedure is applicable to liquid substances whose vapours can be ignited by ignition sources."
Since the guidelines explicitly state that the test is only applicable to liquid substances and the test substance Soya Flour is solid, it is not feasible to perform the test. Therefore, the test for the determination of the flash point of Soya Flour cannot be performed.
