Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

According to column 2 of the REACH Annex IX further testing is not necessary if the substance has an intrinsic low bioaccumulation potential. As (N-Morpholinomethyl)-triethoxysilane is hydrolytically unstable and reacts spontaneously with air humidity and with water under formation of (N-Morpholinomethyl)-silantriol and ethanol the bioaccumulation potential has to be assessed for the hydrolyses products. Ethanol does not bioaccumulate as is well known in the scientific literature. The hydrolysis product (N-Morpholinomethyl)-silantriol has an estimated logKow of << -2 (EPISUITE 4.0, see CSR appendix), i.e. far below the threshold value of 4.5 for which bioaccumulation is expected.
