- The substance Ammonium Benzoate is not highly flammable (for EU regulations) and is a non-flammable solid (for UN regulations).
- Executive summary:
When ignited with the flame of a teclu burner, the test item started to burn with orange smoking flame. The test item melted into a brown liquid. When the flame met the start marker the stop watch was started again. After 56.09 sec. (apporx. 1 cm), the flame died. The combustion with flame of the test item did not propagate within the 4 minutes test period.
Reference
First, a safety test was performed. A small amount of th etest item was heated on a magnesia groove with a gas burner in order to derive safety precautions. The test item melted into a clear liquid. Much smoke was observed. The test item burned leaving no residue on the magnesia groove.
