Toxicity to soil macroorganisms except arthropods:


A study according to a TG OECD 222 and GLP was performed to determine the effects of the registered substance (CAS 13276-08-9) on the reproduction and growth of the earthworm, Eisenia fetida. The NOEC for mortality and body weight on Day 28 was 1000 mg a.i./kg dry soil.  The NOEC for the number of juvenile worms on Day 56 was 1000 mg a.i./kg dry soil.


 


Toxicity to terrestrial plants:


A study according to a TG OECD 208 and GLP conducted demonstrates that there were no statistically significant effects on germination or survival in any plant species at any treatment rate. Germination and survival in the water control and solvent control was 100% for all species. The EC50 values for germination and survival were estimated to be >1000 mg a.i./kg dry soil for all plant species. The NOEC values for effects on germination and survival were 1000 mg a.i./kg dry soil for all plant species. The NOEC values for effects on dry weight compared against the solvent control were 250, 125 and 250 mg a.i./kg dry soil for lettuce, tomato and oat respectively, and >1000 mg a.i./kg dry soil for carrot, cabbage and onion.


 


Toxicity to terrestrial arthropods:


Long term studies are available for appropriate terrestrial organisms on three trophic levels. Therefore, this endpoint is waived.


 


Toxicity to soil microorganisms:


A study according to a TG OECD 216 and GLP investigates the long-term effects of the registered substance (CAS 13276-08-9) on nitrogen transformation activity of the soil microorganisms. The EC50 was determined to be greater than 1000 mg/kg dry weight soil. The No Observed Effect Concentrations (NOEC) was determined to be 32 mg/kg dry weight soil. 


 


A study according to a TG OECD 217 and GLP investigates the long-term effects of the registered substance (CAS 13276-08-9) on the carbon transformation activity of soil microorganisms. No adverse effect was observed following the 28-day exposure to the test material at concentrations up to and including 1000 mg/kg dry weight soil. The NOEC for carbon transformation was determined to be 1000 mg/kg dry weight soil.
