Results and discussion

Flammable solids
Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Burning time:
< 10 s
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

Any other information on results incl. tables

Preliminary Test

The test item melted and the molten test item started to burn locally after applying the flame for about 45 s. After a short propagation of about 10 mm the local burning extinguished.

Main Test

In the preliminary test the test item melted and showed only a local burning with a propagation of about 10 mm. Thus, the performance of the main test was not necessary.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
2,4-Dihydroxybenzoic acid is not to be classified as flammable acc. to GHS-criteria.
Executive summary:

The test item 2,4-Dihydroxybenzoic acid melted and showed only a local burning with short propagation of about 10 mm.

The test item is classified as follows:

CLP Regulation EC 1272/2008: Annex 1: 2.7): The test item does not have to be classified as flammable solid according to CLP Regulation EC 1272/2008 Annex 1: 2.7.
