Description of key information

In this study, Basic Brown 17 was found to inhibit the growth of the freshwater green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata after 72 hours with the following effect values (based on geometric mean test item concentrations): The EC50-values with 95% confidence intervals for inhibition of growth rate (ErC50) and yield (EyC50) after 72 hours were 0.322 (0.286 – 0.372) mg/L and 0.0854 (0.0639 – 0.108) mg/L, respectively. The NOEC-values for inhibition of growth rate and yield after 72 hours were 0.0894 and 0.00762 mg/L, respectively. For the nominal test item concentrations, the effect values were the following: The EC50-values with 95% confidence intervals for inhibition of growth rate (ErC50) and yield (EyC50) after 72 hours were 0.430 (0.380 – 0.497) mg/L and 0.0978 (0.0752 – 0.126) mg/L, respectively. The NOEC-values for inhibition of growth rate and yield after 72 hours were 0.100 and 0.0100 mg/L, respectively.
