Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water

Description of key information

The study does not need to be conducted for OO-tert-butyl monoperoxymaleate because the substance, in its marketed form, is an organic peroxide Type C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to the ECHA Guidance on the Application of CLP criteria, chapter 2.7.3, organic peroxides should not be considered for classification as flammable solids since flammability is an intrinsic hazard of this substance class. Furthermore, the studies for water reactivity and pyrophoric properties do not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that OO-tert-Butyl monoperoxymaleate neither reacts with water nor has pyrophoric properties.
