First-aid measures

- General information: Thermal burns: Flush with water immediately. While flushing, remove clothes which do not adhere to affected area. Call an ambulance. Continue flushing during transport to hospital.

- Inhalation: Move injured person into fresh air and keep person calm under observation. Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

- Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing immediately and wash skin with soap and water. Get medical attention if irritation develops and persists.

- Eye contact:Immediately flush with plenty of water for up to 15 minutes. Remove any contact lenses and open eyelids wide apart. Get medical attention if irritation develops and persists.

- Ingestion: Rinse mouth thoroughly with water and give large amounts of milk or water, if person is conscious. Do not induce vomiting. If vomiting occurs, the head should be kept low so that stomach vomit doesn't enter the lungs. Lay on the side. Get medical attention if any discomfort occurs.

- Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed: Inhalation: Vapours may cause headache, fatigue, dizziness and nausea. Eye contact: May cause redness and pain. Skin contact: Defats the skin. Ingestion: May irritate and cause stomach pain, vomiting and diarrhea.

- Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed: Treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

- General fire hazards: The product is highly flammable, and explosive vapour/air mixtures may be formed even at normal room temperatures.

- Suitable extinguishing media: Extinguish with alcohol-resistant foam, carbon dioxide, dry powder or water fog.

- Unsuitable extinguishing media: None.

- Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture: During fire, gases hazardous to health may be formed. Solvent vapours may form explosive mixtures with air.

- Special protective equipment for firefighters: Selection of respiratory protection for firefighting: follow the general fire precautions indicated in the workplace. Self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing must be worn in case of fire.

- Special fire fighting procedures: Use standard firefighting procedures and consider the hazards of other involved materials. Containers close to fire should be removed or cooled with water.

Accidental release measures

- Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

For non-emergency personnel: Extinguish all ignition sources. Avoid sparks, flames, heat and smoking. Ventilate the area. Avoid inhalation of vapours/mist and contact with skin and eyes. Wear suitable protective clothing.

For emergency responders: Keep unnecessary personnel away. Use personal protection recommended in Section 8 of the SDS.

- Environmental precautions: Avoid discharge into drains, water courses or onto the ground unless authorised by permit.

- Methods and material for containment and cleaning up: Remove sources of ignition. Beware of the explosion danger. Absorb spillage with non-combustible, absorbent material.

Handling and storage

- Precautions for safe handling: Local exhaust is recommended. Avoid inhalation of vapours and spray mist and contact with skin and eyes. Wear protective gloves and appropriate clothing to prevent skin contact. Risk of contact: Wear approved safety goggles. The product is highly flammable, and explosive vapour/air mixtures may be formed even at normal room temperatures. Do not smoke and do not spray near a naked flame or other sources of ignition. Vapours are heavier than air and may travel along the floor and in the bottom of containers. Vapours may be ignited by a spark, a hot surface or an ember. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Observe good industrial hygiene practices.

- Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities: Follow rules for flammable liquids. Flammable Liquids; Hazard Class for Storage: P1. Keep away from heat, sparks and open flame. Do not store near heat sources or expose to high temperatures. Store in closed original container in a dry place. Store away from incompatible materials.

- Specific end use(s): Semiconductor manufacture.

Exposure controls / personal protection

- Appropriate engineering controls: Use explosion-proof equipment. Provide adequate ventilation and minimise the risk of inhalation of vapours and mists. Provide easy access to water supply or an emergency shower.

- Individual protection measures, such as personal protective equipment: Personal protective equipment should be chosen according to the CEN standards and in discussion with the supplier of the personal protective equipment.

- Eye/face protection: Risk of contact: Wear approved safety goggles. Eye protection should meet standard EN 166.

- Skin protection: Wear appropriate clothing to prevent repeated or prolonged skin contact.

 - Hand protection: Wear protective gloves. In full contact: Glove material: Nitrile rubber. Layer thickness: 0.40 mm. Breakthrough time: >480 min. In splash contact: Glove material: Nitril rubber Layer thickness: 0.11 mm Breakthrough time: > 30 min. Be aware that the liquid may penetrate the gloves. Frequent change is advisable. Suitable gloves can be recommended by the glove supplier. Wear suitable gloves tested to EN374.

- Respiratory protection: In case of inadequate ventilation or risk of inhalation of vapours, use suitable respiratory equipment with gas filter (type A2). Follow guidance on selection, use, care and maintenance in accordance with EN 529.

- Thermal hazards: Wear appropriate thermal protective clothing, when necessary.

- Hygiene measures: Always observe good personal hygiene measures, such as washing after handling the material and before eating, drinking, and/or smoking. Routinely wash work clothing and protective equipment to remove contaminants.

- Environmental exposure controls: Environmental manager must be informed of all major spillages.

Stability and reactivity

- Reactivity: Stable at normal conditions.

- Chemical stability: Stable under normal temperature conditions.

- Possibility of hazardous reactions: Will not occur.

- Conditions to avoid: Heat, sparks, flames. Sensitive to static discharge.

- Incompatible materials: Oxidizing agents.

- Hazardous decomposition products: At elevated temperatures: Carbon dioxide. Carbon monoxide.

Disposal considerations

- Residual waste: Dispose of waste and residues in accordance with local authority requirements.

- Contaminated packaging: Empty containers should be taken to an approved waste handling site for recycling or disposal.

- Disposal methods/information: Disposal recommendations are based on material as supplied. Disposal must be in accordance with current applicable laws and regulations, and material characteristics at time of disposal.
