PBT assessment
Administrative data
PBT assessment: overall result
- PBT status:
- the substance is not PBT / vPvB
- Justification:
The PBT assessment for Fatty acids, C8-10, oxybis(2-hydroxy-3,1-propanediyl) esters (CAS 92044-91-2) is based on the criteria set out in the “Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, Chapter R.11: PBT Assessment” (ECHA, 2017).
Persistency assessment
Fatty acids, C8-10, oxybis(2-hydroxy-3,1-propanediyl) esters (CAS 92044-91-2) is readily biodegradable. A degradation rate of 102% (O2 consumption) after 28 days was determined in a study according to EU method C.4 D. Thus, the substance does not meet the screening criterion for persistence and it is not considered to be P or vP.
Bioaccumlation
Fatty acids, C8-10, oxybis(2-hydroxy-3,1-propanediyl) esters (CAS 92044-91-2) is readily biodegradable and thus not persistent (P or vP). Therefore, no B-assessment was carried out since it is only required if the substance fulfills the P or vP criteria, according to the guideline (Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment Chapter R.11: PBT/vPvB assessment, 2017).
Toxicity
Toxic effects at concentrations < 0.1 mg/L were not observed Fatty acids, C8-10, oxybis(2-hydroxy-3,1-propanediyl) esters (CAS 92044-91-2). The substance is furthermore not classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction nor is there any evidence of chronic aquatic toxicity according to the consolidated version of Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 (CLP) considering all further amendments. The criteria for “T” are therefore not met.
