Description of key information

The flammability of yttrium trichloride (tested as hexahydrated form) was investigated according to the UN N.1 test method in agreement with GLP (Klimisch 1, Demangel, 2017a). Based on the negative result, the test item is not classified as a flammable solid. Further, based on experience in day-to-day handling and use, the test item can be concluded not to be pyrophoric and not to emit flammable gases in contact with water. Finally, since no signs of self-heating have been observed in the test performed according to the EU A.16 guideline (Klimisch 1, Demangel, 2017), the substance can safely be concluded not to be self-heating either.
