PBT assessment
Administrative data
PBT assessment: overall result
- Name:
- Wasox-VMAC2
- Type of composition:
- legal entity composition of the substance
- State / form:
- liquid
- Reference substance:
- Wasox-VMAC2
- Reference substance:
- Wasox-VMAC2
- Reference substance:
- Wasox-VMAC2
- PBT status:
- the substance is not PBT / vPvB
- Justification:
Persistence Assessment
Evidence of non-P / non-vP properties:
Criteria based on Annex XIII of REACH: In an hydrolysis assessment Wasox-VMAC2 was determined to totally hydrolysed after 1 hour under all the examined conditions and therefore its half-life (DT50) in fresh water is ≤ 40 days.
The substance is not fulfilling the criteria for Persistence (P).
Bioaccumulation Assessment
Evidence of non-B / non-vB properties:
Screening criteria: The substance undergoes rapid hydrolysis (half-life < 1h) in aqueous to acetone oxime, methanol and the corresponding silanols. At the same time, silanols undergo continuous condensation reaction to produce higher molecular weight siloxanes which are in the molecular weight range large enough to be considered biologically unavailable. Therefore, the potential for bioaccumulation of the test substance is likely due to the acetone oxime and methanol. The estimated log octanol-water partition coefficients (Log Kow) for the degradation products acetone oxime and methanol are 1.20 and -0.63 (EPISuite, KOWWIN v1.68) respectively, which represents a low bioaccumulation potential (log Kow < 4.5).
Criteria based on Annex XIII of REACH: As stated above, the potential for bioaccumulation of the test substance is likely due to the acetone oxime and methanol. The BCF of the degradation products methanol and acetone oxime were calculated to be 3.162 L/kg ≤ 2,000 L/kg.
The substance and the degradation products are not fulfilling the criteria for Bioaccumulation (B).
Toxicity Assessment
Criteria based on Annex XIII of REACH:
NOEC (72 h) for Algae is 100 mg/L.
There is no evidence of CMR.
Not classified for specific target organ toxicity after repeated exposure.
The substance and its degradation products are not fulfilling the criteria for Toxicity (T).
