Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Particle size = 76.4 % < 100 µm; 3.41 % < 10.0 µm; 1.42 % < 5.5 µm, Eq. OECD 110, Butler & White (2008).

Additional information

In the key study Butler & White (2008), the particle size of the test material was determined under GLP conditions in accordance with

he technical guidance EC JRC Guidance Document on the Determination of Particle Size Distribution, Fibre Length and Diameter Distribution of Chemical Substance which satisfies the data requirements for the method OECD 110. The method used the particle size distribution fibre length and diameter distribution method. This study was assigned a reliability score of 1 in line with the principles for assessing data quality as defined by Klimisch et al (1997).

Under the conditions of the test, 76.4% of the test material was of an inhalable particle size less than 100 µm, 3.41 % was of a thoracic particle size less than 10.0 µm, and 1.42 % was determined to have a respirable particle size less than 5.5 µm.
