First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures

If health problems or doubts occur, always seek medical advice and show information given in this safety data sheet.

Inhalation

Stop working and move or take the victim to fresh air and provide conditions for rest in a position that allows easy breathing. In case of uncosciousness keep airways open. If breathing difficultis persist seek medical advice.

Skin contact

Take off contaminated clothing. Wash the affected skin with plenty of water and soap. If any symptoms occur, seek medical advice.

Eye contact

If the victim wears contact lenses, they should be removed (if possible) before washing. Flush eyes with plenty of water as soon as possible and as thoroughly as possible for about 15 minutes with the eyelid held wide open. Avoid strong water stream due to the risk of mechanical damage to the cornea. Contact an ophthalmologist.

Ingestion

Rinse mouth with water. Give plenty of water to drink, only if victim is conscious. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Do not induce vomiting. If you feel unwell or swallowed large amounts, call a physician.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Eye contact: No data available.

Inhalation: Harmful if inhaled.

Skin contact: Harmful in contact with skin.

Ingestion: Harmful if swallowed.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and specific treatment needed

Decision on suitable treatment should be made by the doctor after assessing the condition of the affected person.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

CO2, foams, water spray and other extinguishing media suitable for materials burning around the product.

Unsuitable extinguishing media: water jet.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

The product is not flammable under normal conditions. The products of decomposition and combustion of the substance may be toxic: carbon oxides, sulphur oxides, zinc oxide vapors. Inhalation of gases formed during thermal decomposition may cause irritation and corrosive effects on the respiratory system. Lung effects may be delayed. Persons who have been exposed to the inhalation of decomposition gases should receive immediate medical attention.

Advice for firefighters

Use gas-tight protective clothing and personal breathing apparatus. Quench (smoke) fumes / gases / vapors / mists with a water spray. Fire residues should be disposed of in accordance with applicable regulations. Do not allow contaminated fire extinguishing water to reach ground and surface waters. In the event of environmental contamination, notify the appropriate local authorities.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Inform the surroundings about the accident; remove from the danger area all persons not involved in the liquidation of the accident; if necessary, order evacuation. Avoid direct prolonged contact with the released substance. Avoid creating and inhaling dusts. If released in a confined space, ensure effective ventilation. Use personal protection equipment (see section 8 for information).

Environmental precautions

Prevent product from entering drains, underground and surface waters, and soil. In the event of environmental contamination inform appropriate services.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Secure the sewers inlets. If possible, protect against further spillage of the substance. Place damaged packaging in replacement packaging. Collect spilled product dry. Flush residue with plenty of water. The collected product and washings should be used for their intended purpose or disposed of in accordance with local regulations.

Reference to other sections

Personal protection equipment can be found in section 8.

Dispose of in accordance with the recommendations given in section 13.

Handling and storage

Use as intended only by trained and properly equipped with personal protective equipment personnel in well ventilated rooms with exhaust ventilation. Do not breathe dust. When working with the product, do not eat, drink or smoke. Before entering food-handling areas, remove contaminated clothing and protective equipment. Wash hands before breaks and after finishing work. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
