Description of key information

Based on the respiration rate using activated sludge, the 3h-EC50 for the test substance was found to be >100 mg/L (Caspers et al, 1986), following an OECD 209 Activated Sludge, Respiration Inhibition Test.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
100 mg/L

Additional information

The test substance is covered by the category approach of methylenediphenyl diisocyanates (MDI). Hence, data of the category substances can be used to cover this endpoint. An OECD 209 Activated Sludge, Respiration Inhibition Test is available for PMDI. Based on the respiration rate using activated sludge, the 3h-EC50 was found to be >100 mg/L, which was the highest concentration tested (Caspers et al, 1986). This value may be used for the derivation of a PNECstp.
