Description of key information

Adsorption and desorption of 2-ethylhexanoic acid, iron salt in the environment are most accurately evaluated by separately assessing the fate of its constituents iron cations and 2-ethylhexanoate anions. With a log Kd (sediment/freshwater) of 4.997 L/kg dw and a log Kd (suspended matter/freshwater) of 2.34 L/kg dw under environmental conditions, iron is considered to be immobile. However, significant adsorption to the solid soil phase is not expected for the readily biodegradable 2-ethylhexanoate anion.
