Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In the assessment of acute strontium 2-ethylhexanoate toxicity to aquatic invertebrates, read-across to the assessment entities soluble strontium substances and 2-ethylhexanoic acid is applied since the ions of strontium 2-ethylhexanoate determine its toxicity in the environment. For strontium, acute toxicity data is available with a 48-h EC50 of > 56.3 mg Sr/L as well as a 48 -h LC50 of 125 mg strontium/L. Respective EC/LC50 values of further supporting acute toxicity studies are overall well above 100 mg strontium/L. For 2-ethylhexanoate, the lowest EC50 identified amounts to 913 mg/L (48-h). Thus, strontium 2-ethylhexanoate appears to have a low potential for acute toxicity to aquatic invertebrates.
