Phototransformation in air

The stability of trimethyl benzene-1,2,4-tricarboxylate in the atmosphere was calculated using the computer program AOPWIN (v 1.92). It is predicted that the substance will be degraded in the atmosphere by reaction with photochemically-produced hydroxyl radicals. The half-life for this reaction in air is estimated to be 23.0 days.

The overall degradation rate constant with OH radicals is estimated to be equal to 6.025E-8 cm3/(molecule-day).

Hydrolysys

In accordance with REACH Regulation 1907/2006, Annex VIII, Column 2, section 9.2.1.1, hydrolysis as a function of pH does not need to be determined as the substance can be regarded as readily biodegradable.

Biodegradation

Biodegradation: Significantly degraded but not readily biodegradable.

Bioaccumulation

In accordance with REACH Regulation 1907/2006, Annex IX (9.3.2), Column 2, a study of bioaccumulation need not be conducted because the substance has a low potential (based on a log Kow <3) for bioaccumulation.

Adsorption / desorption

The value of Koc is estimated to be 147 L/Kg, as from the OPERA (Q)SAR application.

According to the McCall classification scheme, this means that the above substance is highly mobile (50 < Koc < 150) on soil.
