Description of key information

Isobutylamine is a clear colorless organic liquid with a freezing point of -82°C and a boiling point of 67.5°C at 1013 hPa. The substance has a relative density of0,7293 g/cm³ and the vapour pressure was determined to be 159 hPa at 20°C.

The surface tension was found to be 68.4 mN/m at 20°C and Isobutylamine is miscible in a 1 : 1 ratio mixture (w/w) with water (at 20°C). The Partition coefficient n-octanol / water (Pow) for Isobutylamine was found to be: Pow = 0,5 / log Pow = -0,3.

No chemical groups present in Isobutylamine are associated with explosives or oxisising properties and the self-ignition temperature was determined to be 360°C (101 325 Pa).
