Description of key information

A study performed according to United Nations Recommendations on the Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria for substances of Class 4, Division 4.2, determined that boric acid should not be classified as a self heating substance of Class 4, Division 4.2. It is anticipated that if Orthoboric acid, potassium salt could be isolated from the chemical matrix in which it is formed, it would exhibit identical behavior in this test and should be classified in the same manner as boric acid.
