Reference
Endpoint:
appearance / physical state / colour
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
03 December 1999
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
study well documented, meets generally accepted scientific principles, acceptable for assessment
Qualifier:
no guideline followed
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Appearance was determined by visual observation, direct and under a microscope. No guideline was followed but sufficient details were given in the study report.
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Physical state at 20°C and 1013 hPa:
solid
Key result
Form:
solid: particulate/powder
Colour:
off-white
Odour:
other: not determined

The substance as received at the test facility was observed to be a clustered, free-flowing, medium, off-white powder.

At 100x magnification, the particles appeared to be irregular shaped and sometimes agglomerated.

At 400x magnification, large particles appear to have small particles attached to them.

Conclusions:
The substance is an off-white powder.

Description of key information

The substance is an off-white powder (visual examination: no guideline followed).

As the substance is imported and used in the EU as part of oily greases (pasty liquids), not as such, value used for CSA is liquid. Exposure to the substance as such is not relevant.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Physical state at 20°C and 1013 hPa:
liquid
