short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates

Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because a long-term aquatic toxicity study on invertebrates is available

Description of key information

The two available studies on the acute toxicity of the test item on the mobility of Daphnia magna were not considered reliable; 48h-EC50 (Daphnia magna, immobilisation) = 0.27 mg/L (nominal); 48h-EC10 (Daphnia magna, immobilisation) = 0.067 mg/L (nominal)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Two acute toxicity studies were performed to assess the short-term effect of the test material on the mobility of Daphnia magna. The studies were performed according to the OECD guideline 202. However, due to missing analytical measurements of the test concentrations in both studies, and in combination with a test material of very low water solubility (<0.05 mg/L, see IUCLID section 4), the derived effect concentrations were not considered reliable (RL3).

For one of the studies the determined nominal acute effect concentrations were: 24h-EC50 = 0.4 mg/L, 48h-EC50 = 0.27 mg/L and 48h-EC10 = 0.067 mg/L test item. For the second study the derived nominal effect concentrations were: 24h-EC50 = 5.0 mg/L, 48h-EC50 = 2.7 mg/L and 48h-EC10 ca. 0.15 mg/L test item.
