Additional information
In the key skin irritation study for 1,3,5-tris[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl]-1,3,5-triazinane-2,4,6-trione, conducted according to a protocol similar to OECD TG 404, without any sufficient information about GLP compliance, the test material was reported to be not irritating to rabbit skin (BRRC, 1990).
Following 4-hour application of 0.5 mL of test substance onto the skin of 3 male and 3 female rabbits, kept in contact with the skin under occlusive dressing, no signs of erythema or oedema were evident in any of the test animals at any of the observation time points. No clinical signs of toxicity were noted during the 14-day observation period. Skin reactions were assessed at 5 hours, then on days 1, 2, 3, 7, 10 and 14 after application.
In the key eye irritation study for 1,3,5-tris[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl]-1,3,5-triazinane-2,4,6-trione, conducted according to a protocol similar to OECD TG 405, without any sufficient information about GLP compliance, the test material was reported to be not irritating to rabbit eyes (BRRC, 1990).
Following single instillation of 0.1 mL of test substance into the eyes of 3 male and 3 female rabbits, no corneal injury or iritis were observed in any of the test animals. Within 1 hour post-instillation, each rabbit developed minor irritation of conjunctivae. Moderate amount of discharge was noted in one animal. Observations were performed at 1, 4, 24, 48 and 72 hours and on day 7 after instillation.
Justification for classification or non-classification
Based on the available data for 1,3,5-tris[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl]-1,3,5-triazinane-2,4,6-trione, no classification is proposed for skin or eye irritation according to Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
