PBT assessment: overall result

Reference
Name:
4-Aminobenzoyl-b-alanine
Type of composition:
legal entity composition of the substance
State / form:
solid: particulate/powder
Reference substance:
4-Aminobenzoyl-b-alanine
PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

The ready biodegradability of 4-aminobenzoyl-b-alanine was determined in accordance with OECD Guideline 310. On the basis of the results obtained, the test item 4-aminobenzoyl-b-alanine is considered to be readily biodegradable under aerobic conditions.

The partition coefficient of 4-aminobenzoyl-b-alanine was determined according to OECD Guideline 117 and was found to be -1.19. Therefore, based on this result, 4-aminobenzoyl-b-alanine is predicted not to bioaccumulate.

According to the ECHA Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment Chapter R.11 (PBT/ vPvB assessment, version 3, 2017) and following the annotated flow chart in the guidance (Figure R.11-5), the T criterion is not fulfilled for 4-aminobenzoyl-b-alanine.

Since none of the criteria are fulfilled, the overall conclusion of the PBT assessment is that 4-aminobenzoyl-b-alanine is not considered to be a PBT or vPvB substance.
