Conclusion on classification

Studies assessing the acute aquatic ecotoxicity of the substance are available for fish, Daphnia and algae, with the lowest resulting L(E)C50 value being 2.0 mg/L (the 72-hour ErC50 derived from an algae growth inhibition study). The substance is therefore ‘not classified’ as an aquatic environment hazard under the CLP Regulation ((EC) No 1272/2008) but is classified as ‘Aquatic Acute Category 2’ (H401) under the Globally Harmonised System (GHS) of classification and labelling. 

 

Aquatic chronic ecotoxicological data are not available and the substance was shown to be not ‘rapidly degradable’, thus aquatic chronic classification is based on the available aquatic acute data (using the 72-hour algal ErC50 value of 2.0 mg/L). The substance is therefore classified as ‘Aquatic Chronic Category 2’ (H411) under both the CLP Regulation and GHS.
