Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
weight of evidence
Study period:
2018
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
test procedure in accordance with generally accepted scientific standards and described in sufficient detail
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
GLP compliance:
no
Other quality assurance:
other: ISO 9001-2008
Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

The result obtained in the preliminary screening test was the following: the substance did not ignite nor propagate combustion neither by burning with flame nor smouldering of the powder train within the four minutes test period.

Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
The result obtained in the preliminary screening test was the following: the substance did not ignite nor propagate combustion neither by burning with flame nor smouldering of the powder train within the four minutes test period.
The substance is not highly flammable.
Endpoint:
pyrophoric solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
Based on chemical structure and experience in handling and use of the substance, the pyrophoric properties are not to be expected. Therefore the study does not need to be conducted according to section 1 of Annex XI of Regulation (EC) N° 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH).

Description of key information

To determine the flammability of the substance, the EU Method A10 has been performed. In the determination of the burning rate, the substance did not ignite nor propagate combustion neither by burning with flame, nor showing smoldering of the powder within the four minutes test period.

Testing with EU Method A12 (emission of flammable gases in contact with water) and A13 (pyrophoric properties) was considered scientifically unjustified based on the chemical structure and experience in handling and use of the substance.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to the EC Regulation 1272/2008 and the results obtained under the present test conditions, the substance is not classified as flammable.
