Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
General information: Immediately remove any clothing soiled by the product. Immediately call a POISON CENTER or doctor/physician. Symptoms of poisoning may even occur after several hours; therefore medical observation is recommended for at least 48 hours after the accident.
After inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. In case of unconsciousness , place patient in recovery position.
After skin contact: Immediately rinse skin with water/shower thoroughly.
After eye contact: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing.
After swallowing: Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing agents: Use fire extinguishing methods suitable to surrounding conditions.
Special hazards caused by the substance, its products of combustion or resulting gases: In case of fire, vanadium oxide can be released.
Protective equipment: Do not inhale explosion gases or combustion gases. Wear self-contained respiratory protective device.
Additional information: Collect contaminated fire fighting water separately. It should not enter the sewage system. Dispose of fire debris and contaminated fire fighting water in accordance with official regulations.
Accidental release measures
Person-related safety precautions: Keep people at a distance and stay on the windward side. Avoid formation of dust. Use respiratory protective device against the effects of fumes/dust/aerosol. Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/ eye protection/face protection.
Measures for environmental protection: Do not allow to enter sewers/ surface or ground water. Inform respective authorities in case of seepage into water course or sewage system.
Measures for cleaning/collecting: Pick up mechanically. Ensure adequate ventilation. Send for recovery or disposal in suitable receptacles.
Handling and storage
Handling
Information for safe handling: Provide suction extractors if dust is formed. Waste air is to be released into the atmosphere only via suitable separators. Take note of emission threshold. Keep receptacles tightly sealed. Ensure good ventilation/exhaustion at the workplace. Prevent formation of dust.
Information about fire - and explosion protection: The product is not flammable. No special measures required.
Storage
Requirements to be met by storerooms and receptacles: No special requirements.
Information about storage in one common storage facility: Do not store with acids.
Further information about storage conditions: Store in cool, dry conditions in well sealed receptacles. Keep receptacle tightly sealed.
